Slow computer is really disturbing for all the users. Most would like to use anti-virus software to detect the whole system. But, sometimes it may fail in improving computer speed. If so, what will you do next? In fact, disk defragment is quite helpful for you to speed up computer. If you have not made your mind to defragment disk yet, it is the article that can help you make decision.
Some users may fear whether defragmentation can harm disks or not and if it is necessary to defragment any more.
First of all, the defragmentation can help you collect the separated file clusters in the disk to improve the data reading speed and clear up junk file clusters in the hard disk track. Do you know that every time computer goes crushed, it may create many useless system files which can waste a lot of space. If you turn a blind eye to this underlying problem, it can hinder your computer performance in the future. What is more, a correct defragmentation can help you isolate the broken hard disk space and hold back the data to write on them, so you do not worry the data may be lost.
Then, as for defragmentation, you have to pay attention to some aspects. Whether defragmentation may harm disk or not is mainly based on how frequent you defragment disk. If you do that hourly, your disk can not bear for sure. That is to say, you should do that at proper intervals according to different situations. If there is small numbers of fragments, frequent defragmentation can do harm to disk and shorten its usage without question. But normally, it is better for you to do that once a week.
You can choose to defragment by using defrag of Windows, but it is really slow. In this regard, I recommend you not to use the system disk defragmenter. It is not only time-consuming and inefficient but also disturbing. You have to wait for a long time and can not do nothing but just letting it defragment. This is because any read-write operation can hinder the process of defragmentation, what is worse, it may cause to start the whole process again and again instead of completing the task. Therefore, are you willing to use it any more?
Here, I suggest to download a better defrag to manage your frequently-used disks by its powerful defragmenting function. it embraces high speed and efficiency and can optimize your files as well. You need to have a try of it by clicking here.

As we all know that, computers are the same as human beings which need to be taken care of. If so, it will always work at the maximum optimization status and extent the lifespan. On the contrary, firstly, this will some serious problems appearing like some important data lost improvably, computer crashes every two or three days, or unable to complete the scheduled work; secondly, this will significantly shorten the lifespan of the computer. So we can say that daily computer maintenance is necessary in order to optimize PC performance.
Normally, computer maintenance contains two parts: hardware and software maintenance.
Hardware maintenance means that it is needed to do some jobs like cleaning dust. After being used for sometime, the computer may get dusty inside for the fan that pulls hot air outsides are always pulling in air, which laden with tiny particles of dust. When these particles cling to electronics, they act like a blanket to hold in heat. And the dusts always stay at the biggest heat producers like CPU, heatsink, and video card. So a cleaning dust is necessary regularly in order to maintain the PC performance. If possible, please keep the area around your computer as dust-free as possible.
Software maintenance, including protecting the computer from being attached by virus, and regularly deleting the unnecessary system junk files, running a disk defragment is necessary in optimizing PC performance. Here, there is no need to talk about the importance of the anti-virus program to the computer for it is known to all that it is a must in order to protect the computer, but instead, we will particularly discuss the parts that always be neglected by lots of PC users when maintaining the computer: junk files cleanup and disk defragmentation.
When using the computer it is inevitably for us to surf websites and download programs, which always bring some useless temporary file on the computer. They do nothing but harm to the computer. So it is necessary for us to clean up the system junk files in a regular basic. I found that there is an article tells very detailed information on junk files cleanup . If you want more information, you can go here for more detailed information.
Besides, a disk defragmentation is indispensible in daily computer maintenance for it will rearrange the contents on the hard disk in order to making a complete file always stays at the same single place coherently and contiguously, Hence it will be much easier to get access to when trying to input or output it. Therefore, the computer may always run at faster speed and also extent the lifespan of the hard disk and the computer.
It is known to most PC users that they can defragment the computer with windows built-in defragmenter by directly going to Start and then All Programs, Accessories and system tools. But here, in order to greatly optimize PC performance, I recommend you to use Advanced Defrag which is very suitable to solve modern big volume hard disk. It can not only speedily defragment the computer, but also provides you very unique features to maintain your computer like defragment PC registry, real-time defragment and completely web-report. With this defrag tool in hand, I believe you can maintain your computer without any problem.
In a word, there are many details that you can do to maintain the computer, but please do not miss the importance of disk cleanup and disk defragmentation, which will help you greatly optimize PC performance.

Regarding that many aspects resulting in a slower computer, it is available for us to reclaim faster computer speed from many different sides. But no matter how your computer is running right now, if you want to always enjoy faster computer speed, please do not miss this article, which tells some very simple ways you can do in daily life to speed up your computer.
1. Regularly scan the computer for virus
To always speed up the computer, first it is necessary for you to install an anti-virus program and regularly scan the computer for virus, which will protect the computer from being attached by any virus or malware. We know that once the computer is infected by a virus/malware, lots of resources will be taken when running the computer. So in my opinion, this is the first one you need to do in order to always speed up your computer.
2. Uninstall some unwanted programs
Normally, the programs install on the computer will always take lots of disk space. The unwanted programs on the hard disk will not only waste the hard disk space, but also make the system files( for example ddi、ini files) become bloated because the system will automatically modify these files when installing programs on the computer, greatly slow down the computer and reduce the working efficiency. So if you find the program is not needed any not, please do not hesitate to uninstall it from your computer in order to reclaim faster computer speed.
3. Effectively manage the hard disk.
Basically, the more programs installed in the current version, the more frequent hard disk’s input and output will be. So if we can speed up disk visiting time, we can speed up the computer easily. To accomplish it, we can effort from the two sides below:
1) Regularly clean up the unneeded files/folders. The computer will become very slow shen there is not enough available free space/memory for the computer. Hence, a cleanup of the junk files, temporary files from the computer is needed in order to release more free space.
2) Regularly defragment the computer.
We know that after being used for some time, the computer will become fragmented day by day because of the fragmentation on the computer. So a disk defragmentation is necessary to rearrange all parts of the same file locate at only a single place in order to always easier to get access to.
From a questionnaire, we find that lots of computer users are not very satisfied with the built-in derfragmenter provided by Microsoft for it always consume very longer time in thoroughly defragmenting the computer. Take my own experience as an example, it took more than three hours to completely defragment my C drive which is only several GB.large.
So here, to reclaim faster computer speed, it is much better that you can depend on a professional defrag program to defragment the whole computer. Because of the advice of my friend, I went to have a try with a defrag tool named Advanced Defrag, and find that it can not only speedily defragment the hard disk, but also defragment the PC registry. Believe me, you can easily speed up your computer with the help of this defrag program.

For all computer users, I believe they will ever wonder— why is my computer running so slow? Some may get some answers, but some still have no idea what the answer is.
Normally, there are many aspects resulting in a slow computer, for example, some hardware related issues with the memory or processor, not enough available memory, too many installed programs, or infected by virus/ malware. So in our daily life, it is easy for us to fix a slow computer by regularly scanning the computer for virus / malware, uninstalling unwanted programs from the computer or turning off some services which are unnecessary to run at windows startups. But rare PC users realize that one major reason for why the computer is running so slow is related to the disk fragmentation on the hard disk.
Disk fragment is the same as file fragment which inevitably creates during the allocation of the files on the hard disk. When it is impossible for the computer to locate a file into a single place as a unit, the file will be cut into different parts and put in the gaps between other files instead, making the hard disk fragmented day by day. The more fragmented the computer is, the slower it will be when running. So a disk defragmentation is needed in fixing a slower computer. But from a fact study, we find that most PC user have never run a disk defragmentation during the lifetime of the computer. How terrible!
So the answer you need to know right now is — when and how to defragment the computer?
Normally, it is recommended that you can defragment the computer once a week, but if time doesn’t permit, it is better that you can regularly defragment your C system drive. But if under the below circumstances, you’d better run a disk defragmentation:
1) After installing new programs on the computer.
2) After storing a large amount of files/folders on the computer.
3) When there is not enough free available hard disk space, normally 15% or less than 15%.
To defragment the computer, you can simply go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tool and then select Disk Defragmenter. Here, you can simple select the volume you want to defragment and then select the Analyze button to begin the analysis process, to see whether to defragment the computer or not. If the overall fragmentation rate is larger than 10%, please click Defragment button to begin the defragmentation. But if you have never run a disk defragmentation before, it is recommended to directly click Defragment option.
With a simple disk defragmentation in daily life, you can easily fix your computer which is running so slow, but will be a little difficult to get faster defragmentation process because of the slower-efficiency of the windows built-in defragmenter. But one easiest way to defragment the computer is to depend on a special designed defrag tool, which is my favorite.
Here, to fix your slow computer, Advanced Defrag may be a perfect choice for it applies very advanced defragment algorithm which ensures a complete and fast analysis of the fragments found on your computer’s hard disk, and then quickly reassembles the fragments into complete files. In a word, high-quality defrag program can bring a faster computer and higher working efficiency in minutes. Hence, there won’t be question like “why my computer is running so slow” any more.

No matter what the computer is used for, I believe it will hardly be a pleasant experience to find it run slow at startup. Here, some solutions will be discussed on how to fix this startup problem, and to speed up computers at startups.
If your computer always boots slow, maybe you can consider adding a new RAM to completely speed up the computer. But if it used to run fairly fast, but suddenly become slower, it will be a little abnormal. But the solutions below may help you.
1) Scan the computer for virus and malware
As we all know once the computer is infected by virus or malware, it will become extremely slow at startups. So a scan is necessary. But before the scan, please first update your anti-virus program to ensure a completely latest virus database.
2) Optimize startup programs
When using the computer, we will always install programs on the computer. Some will add entries to startup automatically when windows startup. To deal with a slow startup, you must learn to turn off some programs that do not need to start up at booting up the computer. You can go to Start -> Run -> type msconfig and press Enter to access Startup. Here, you can delete entries that do not need to automatically run at windows startup. But please do not turn off the anti-virus program because of the real-time safeguard of the computer.
3) Defragment and optimize PC registry
During startup, windows system will read the relevant data in registry and most startup time is spent on this process. So it becomes necessary to regularly defragment and optimize the PC registry. Because of the blooming development of the Internet technology, it is very easy for us to get access to some very advanced registry cleaner from the internet. But no matter which program you are using, it is recommended to first back up the registry before.
4) Regularly maintain system.
Too many installed PC games, programs on the computer will also cause a slow computer and startup, so it is better to thorough maintain the entire system. You can go to Start -> All programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Maintenance Wizard and then click “Yes” to begin the maintenance process, keeping the computer always run at maximum optimization. Besides, to solve a computer slow startup, a disk defragmentation is needed regularly for it will rearrange the files on the hard disk, making all parts of a file always stay close together and contiguously. In this way, it will be much easier to get access to when trying to read / read it, and speed up the computer.
Normally, we can defragment the computer directly by going to Start -> All programs -> Accessories -> System Tools, and then select Disk Defragmenter. This will significantly make the computer run faster at startups. But from a questionnaire, we find that nowadays, more and more people prefer to defragment their computers with a third-party defrag program rather than the stubborn windows built-in Disk Defragmenter for it always cost very long time to get through the defragment process.
So here, in order to effectively solve the startup problem and speed it up, I recommend you to use Advanced Defrag, which will help your quickly defragment your computer thoroughly, making it not only run faster at startup, but also during the whole process of using the computer. If you want to have a faster computer, go to have a try of this wonderful program.

If you computer is running slower and slower, what will you do? Normally, besides using anti-virus software, defragmentation is also a good choice. However, some users may have encountered many problems during defragmenting disks. It is really annoying since you want to speed up the computer but only find that the defragmentation cannot work.
So, in this article, I would like to share my methods of in solving defragmenting problems. If your defragmentation can not continue to work while it just runs a small portion of it and then start from the very beginning again and again, this is the article you should read so as to finish the defragmenting task.
Generally speaking, in such circumstance, you should first check whether you have closed down screen saver, monitor power and anti-virus software or not. It is a must to shut them down ahead of defragmenting the disk. You can do that by following the steps below.
Right–click the blank of desktop to choose “Properties”, in the “Display Properties”, you should click “Screen Saver” and set “None” in this tab. And if there is any other screen protecting program, please remember to close down all of them. In the same tab, there is “Monitor power”, click “Power”. In the “Power Options Properties”, you should choose “Never” in the “Turn off hard disk” and “System standby” respectively.
Besides, some anti-virus software may interfere in defragmenting disks while some may not. If you have closed down screen saver and monitor power but are still troubled with this problem, you can attempt to turn off anti-virus software and try to defragment again. Just bear in mind that any read-write operation in the defragmenting process can result in defragmentation startup again and again.
By following the steps, you can figure out such disturbing problems quickly. However, do not feel relief too early. Though you can apply disk defragmenter of Windows to optimize computer performance, you have to pay much more attention to other aspects to finish the whole process.
Before defragmenting disk, it is no doubt that you should clear up the junk files which are the biggest hindrance for defragmentation and scan disk. In the Windows system, you have to do the two steps separately, even complicatedly. So, in order to save your time and energy, you had better to use a more professional defrag instead of doing that manually.
If there is tool that can help you make in-depth analysis of your hard disk ahead of defragmentation and remove fragments in the registry as well, is there any reason that you will reject having a try of this defrag? This is such a perfect defrag that have been tested by million of times. You can set your heart at rest by letting it help you defragment disk.
If you are interested in this powerful tool, you can click here to find this defrag. You can find it is quite cost-effective.

Defragmentation is a process that reduces the amount of fragmentation in the computer hard disk and rearranges the files located on the disk, making pieces of each file stay close together and contiguously. Hence, it will be much easier to access to the file and speed up the computer.
But in our daily life, lots of people have never run a disk defragmentation during the lifetime of their computers. When noticing that the computer is running slow, what they always do is to find some very stuck methods trying to fix it, without realizing that the large amount of fragmentation on the disk may be the main reason for the slow computer, and they can easily regain a faster computer speed with a disk defragmentation. If you are crazy with your extremerely slow computer, please do not miss your computer, especially you are not so professional on computers.
When should you defragment it?
First of all, we know that disk / file fragmentation comes inevitably when revolves with the allocation of the files on the computer. When it is impossible for the operating system to allocate a large enough contiguous space for a file as an unit, the file will be cut into different parts and put in the gaps between other files instead (usually those gaps come because they formerly held a file but now it was deleted or removed). The more fragmentation on the computer, the more time it will cost to reassemble all parts of the same contents together when trying to read/ write it. So to always regain a faster computer speed, it is recommended that you can defragment the computer weekly. But please defragment the computer immediately under the below circumstances:
1) When installing new programs or new version of the windows update on the computer.
2) When storing large amount of files/folders on the computer.
3) When there is only or less than 15% free available hard disk space.
How should you defragment it?
To defragment your computer, it is very easy to use the windows built-in disk defragmenter to begin the defragmentation process. You can go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tool and then select Disk Defragmenter. Here, please first select the volume you want to defragment, and then click the Analyze button to see where it is needed to defragment or not. Normally, you should defragment it when the fragmentation rate is larger than 10%. But if you have never run a disk defragmentation before, it is recommended that you directly press Defragment button to begin the defragment process.
How can you quickly defragment it?
In many cases, it takes a lot of time to get through a disk defragmentation with windows built-in defragmenter. When defragmenting my computer, it cost about three hours to defragment a hard disk which is 3 GB large. So the easiest way, which is my favorite way is to defragment the computer with a defrag program for I can offer the time, but I can’t always deal with my slower computer. In my opinion, it will be much easier for me to get rid of the disk defragmentation and regain faster computer speed with a trusted defrag program.
Here, to quickly defragment your computer, I recommend you to use Advanced Defrag in particular. It will not only help you defragment the hard disk / Pc registry, but also provides you a choice to real-time defragment the computer. Tried of your slower computer? It is time to run a disk defragmentation and regain faster computer speed right now.

Compared with DOC system, the visualization of windows operating system makes everything more convenient, faster and easier to use, but what make it a little insufficient is that there will be lots of system junk files coming when using windows operating system. No matter which version: windows 98/2000, or windows XP, after being used for some time, you will apparently find that the C drive is becoming bigger and bigger, which significantly slows down the computer. Besides the installed programs, the other reason is that the generating system junk files, occupying a lot of drive space and slowing down the computer. This is relatively evident in windows XP operating system.
So to speed up your computer, it is necessary to regularly clean up the system junk files— optimize PC performance and free up more available drive space.
To smartly clean up the junk files, what you need to do first is to make all files visible for most of the time we will ignore the hidden files on the computer. You can directly follow the steps below: open My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> tick Show hidden files and folders within the tab: Hidden files and folders.
When using the computer, it is inevitable for us to browse websites and view files, which causes lots of temporary files. Days by, with the increasing amount of the temporary files on the computer, the computer will become slower and slower. So to speed up the computer, a cleanup of the junk files is needed. Normally, these files all located under the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\username\. So please open and the delete the files under the directories below:
1) C:\Documents and Settings\username\Cookies (All index files after browsing websites)
2) C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\History (History files).
3) C:\WINDOWS\Temp, C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp, C:\Documents and Settings\username\LocalSettings\TemporaryInternet Files (Temporary files)
6) C:\Documents and Settings\username\Recent (Shortcuts for the previous files you have ever viewed)
7) C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\download (Temporary download files)
8) C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386, (Driver backup).
9) C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles (Backups after upgrading SP1 or SP2)

It is known to all that we can fix a slow computer by simply defragmenting the computer. But it is a so time-consuming process to get through the whole disk defragmentation. What makes us crazy is that, there will be lots of fragmentations coming not long after the previous defragmentation, significantly slowing down the computer. So it is necessary for us to run a disk defragmentation again and again. Thus, needless to mention how much time it takes and the inconvenience it brings, as time goes by, will greatly shorten the lifespan of the hard disk.
So is it possible for us to fix a slow computer easily by a disk defragmentation without any troubles? Of course, it is. Here, we will discuss some ways on how to avoid troubles when defragmenting the computer, that is, assign some folders to other drives expect C drive (Take D drive as an example).
1) Assign the WIN386.SWP file of Virtual Memory to D drive: go to Start-> Control Panel-> System -> Performance-> and then Virtual Memory -> select “Let me specify my own virtual memory settings”->select D drive ->Ok to finish the setting. But please note that, the drive you select must be larger than 100MB.
2) Assign the Internet temporary files to D drive. First, please create a new directory under C:\D drive such as D:\IE-TEMP, and then go to Start -> Control Panel -> double click Internet Options -> click Settings within Internet Temporary Files -> click “Remove folders” to the directory D:\IE-TEMP.
3) Assign the system temporary files to D drive. First please go to create a temp directory in the D drive, for example, D:\temp, and then right click My Computer ->Properties->Advanced->Environment Variables, drag to the end of the System Variables to find TEMP and TMP, and then change the value of them to D:\temp. By the way, it needs you to restart the computer to take effect.
4) Assign the received and draft mails of Outlook Express to D drive: first please go to create a new Outlook directory under D drive, and then run Outlook Express -> Tools -> Options -> Maintenance -> click Store Folder -> select Change -> assign the new location, for example, D:\Outlook.
5) Move My Documents to D drive: first please go to create a new MyDoucuments in D drive like D:\My Documents, and then right click My Documents to select Properties, and then type D:\My Documents within the tab “Target Folder Location”.
6) If you are using some download programs like NetAnts, it is recommended that you can change the download directory to D drive. So first please go to create a new directory like D:\Download, and then change the download location to the directory to you just created.
After the modification above, it will be much faster in defragmenting the C drive and reducing the fragmentation on the computer. Thus fixs the slow computer.
But to more faster defragment the computer, besides run a disk cleanuo and an error-checking before the defragmentation, it is much better that you can close all running programs before, or boot the computer into safe mode. In this way, you can fix the slow computer effectively. But when defragmenting the computer with the windows built-in defragmenter, I find that it is really a process that test your patience more than others. What is more, sometimes it will automatically skip some certain system files with extensions such as DLL, INI, COM etc during the defragment. Hence, there may be some remnant fragments left on the drives after each defragment action.
So to fix your slow computer, I recommend you to use Advanced Defrag, which will help you completely and thoroughly defragment your computer without any trouble because of its advanced defragment technology. If you want to know more about it, you can simply click here to download a free 7-day trial.

Currently, Windows XP has been the mainstream operating system. But no matter how wonderful your hardware configuration is, you will find that your computer is gradually running slower then even before. Upon this, it is necessary for you to master some skills on how to effectively speed up your windows XP. Generally speaking, we can effort from two sides below in our daily life to speed up the XP computer: speed up startup and shutdown time.
Speed up computer at startup. The effectively way to speed up the computer at startup is to disable some entries which do not need to automatically load at windows startup. To disable some unnecessary services, you can simply follow: go to Start -> Run -> type “services.msc” to access that service page. Here, you can select the programs that do not need to automatically run when booting up the computer. But, please note that it is not recommended to disable the anti-virus program because of the real-time safeguard to the computer. Another way is to modify the registry to reduce the pre-reading, thus will reduce the waiting time of the progress bar, making it only run a lap on the progress bar and then into the login screen. You can go to Start → Run → type regedit to open Registry Editor, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters. Here, please select the key EnablePrefetcher and then change its value to “1″.
Speed up computer at shutdown. Normally, it will take more time to shut down the computer, especially when there are some tasks needs to be manually turned off, which will delay the shutdown time. So in order to speed up the shutdown speed, first it is necessary to turn on the windows XP Auto EndTasks function: go to Start → Run → type regedit to open Registry Editor, find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, and change the value of AutoEndTaks to “1”, the value of HungAppTimeout to “4000” or less 4000. Last, please go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\, change the value of the WaitToKillServiceTimeout to 4000. After the above settings, it will become relatively faster when shutting up the computer, significantly speed up computer.
Moreover, to speed up your windows XP computer, a lose weight of the computer is necessary. For more detailed information, you can visit here for more helpful tips. With the above methods above, I believe you can greatly speed up your computer, making it always run at maximum performance.
By the way, as we all know that no matter in which way the computer is running, there will be inevitably some fragments occur. The more fragmented the computer is, the more time it will take when running the computer/programs or taking other actions on the computer. So a very simplest way to speed up your windows XP is to regularly run a disk defragmentation by going to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools and then Disk Defragmenter to select the drives to begin the defragment process, making the same/similar files always locate at a single directory of the hard disk, reducing the accessing time and then speeding up the computer.
But here, to speed up your computer by a disk defragmentation, I recommend you to use Advanced Defrag because of its advanced defragment technology and algorithm, compared with the stubborn Microsoft Windows defragmenter. Believe me, it will return you a faster Windows XP computer which runs like new.
