As long as you use computer, it is unavoidable for you to encounter millions of computer problems. And the slow computer speed should be topped on the list. Well, do not worry about it. In this article, I will tell you how to speed up PC.
Any computer veteran may have encountered such problems that after formatting and reinstall the computer, it works very well at the beginning, but you may find it is running slower and slower day by day. It is no doubt that it may result from the increasing software in the system and larger burden. However, the new adding software is not the only reason for slow performance. Excessive disk fragments and useless registry files left by removing software can result in decreasing your PC performance. And, as long as you maintain the computer system properly, it can keep you PC running in the best state.
It is indispensable to defragment the disk. Since you use hard disk for a long time, the available physical space is becoming more and more discontinuously. When installing applications or reserving large size files, the data are divided into many fragments and restored in the discrete areas in the hard disk. The more fragments are in it, the more messy the files are scattered. So, when your want to run certain program or open files, you may find the computer is too slow to bear. Well, that is why you should defragment the disk regularly, in other word, rearrange the file fragments on the disk orderly and continuously. By doing this, every time you run large applications, open pictures or files, it is bound to be faster than before. You can apply the “Disk Defragment” of Windows to help you. It is put in the “Start”—“Programs”—“Accessories”—“System Tools”. It works well though rather slow.
In this regard, I recommend you to use a good defrag which is not only fast but also easy to operate. In order to speed up PC, it is the tool you cannot afford to miss.

It is known to all PC Users that it is necessary to defragment the computer regularly so as to greatly optimize computer performance. But if you have ever defragmented your computer with disk defragmenter before, you will find that it is a so time-consuming action. In this article, you will find some tips on how to get a faster defragmentation when noticing that your computer is running slow.
1) Close all running programs. It is needed for programs to repeatedly read the data from the hard drive when running, which will affect the defragment speed. In the case of system instability, it will sometimes crash the computer. So to get a faster defragmentation, you’d better close all running programs and it is more appreciated to boot the computer into windows safe mode before the defragmentation.
2)Modify the registry to automatically shut down the screen saver. If not, the defragmenter will start up again and again. Regarding that it will be very troublesome to manually turn it off every time, you can click Start –> Run -> enter Regedit to open registry editor -> locate KEY_CURRENT_USER/Software /Microsoft/windows/CurrentVersion/Applets ->find whether this is “Defrag” key under this path (if not, go to create one) -> create a new key called “Settings” within the “Defrag” key -> create another key named “DisableScreenSaver” within “Settings” -> change the default string value to “YES”. Hence, in the following defragmentation, the system will automatically turn off the screen saver.
3) Change the location of the temporary folder. IE will generate a large number of temporary files within the directory: Temporary Internet Files (normally in C:\windows\Temporary Internet Files). Every time when we surfing the internet, the hard disk will frequently read / write these files, resulting in lots of fragments and slow down computer. To avoid this , you can design the temporary directory to another partition:A) Create a new directory in other partition to store the temporary files. B) Click Start -> Control Panel -> double click Internet Options -> click Settings within Internet Temporary Files -> click “Remove folders” to the directory you just created.
4) Keep sufficient disk space. It will slow down the programs and the defragmentation when there is only a little space left down. So it is much better to retain sufficient disk space. Normally, it will be more than 15% available for relatively smaller hard disk partition, and 5% for bigger ones, and at lease 200MB for boot partition.
After the preparations above, you can go to defragment the computer in a much faster speed. But in my opinion, it will be better to depend on a professional defrag program to thoroughly defragment computer because of the lower efficiency of the window’s built-in defragmenter.
