2) Disable some unnecessary startup entries. You can go to Star -> Run -> type msconfig to access Startup, and then delete entries that do not need to automatically run at windows startup. 3) Uninstall some unwanted /useless programs from Add/Remove Programs.

5) Cancel some unwanted services. By default, Windows XP will recall some unwanted services, which will only slow down the computer, making no sense in protecting the computer.
