Startup problems — How to deal with slow startups

No matter what the computer is used for, I believe it will hardly be a pleasant experience to find it run slow at startup. Here, some solutions will be discussed on how to fix this startup problem, and to speed up computers at startups.

If your computer always boots slow, maybe you can consider adding a new RAM to completely speed up the computer. But if it used to run fairly fast, but suddenly become slower, it will be a little abnormal. But the solutions below may help you.

1) Scan the computer for virus and malware
As we all know once the computer is infected by virus or malware, it will become extremely slow at startups. So a scan is necessary. But before the scan, please first update your anti-virus program to ensure a completely latest virus database.

2) Optimize startup programs
When using the computer, we will always install programs on the computer. Some will add entries to startup automatically when windows startup. To deal with a slow startup, you must learn to turn off some programs that do not need to start up at booting up the computer. You can go to Start -> Run -> type msconfig and press Enter to access Startup. Here, you can delete entries that do not need to automatically run at windows startup. But please do not turn off the anti-virus program because of the real-time safeguard of the computer.

3) Defragment and optimize PC registry
During startup, windows system will read the relevant data in registry and most startup time is spent on this process. So it becomes necessary to regularly defragment and optimize the PC registry. Because of the blooming development of the Internet technology, it is very easy for us to get access to some very advanced registry cleaner from the internet. But no matter which program you are using, it is recommended to first back up the registry before.

4) Regularly maintain system.
Too many installed PC games, programs on the computer will also cause a slow computer and startup, so it is better to thorough maintain the entire system. You can go to Start -> All programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Maintenance Wizard and then click “Yes” to begin the maintenance process, keeping the computer always run at maximum optimization. Besides, to solve a computer slow startup, a disk defragmentation is needed regularly for it will rearrange the files on the hard disk, making all parts of a file always stay close together and contiguously. In this way, it will be much easier to get access to when trying to read / read it, and speed up the computer.

Normally, we can defragment the computer directly by going to Start -> All programs -> Accessories -> System Tools, and then select Disk Defragmenter. This will significantly make the computer run faster at startups. But from a questionnaire, we find that nowadays, more and more people prefer to defragment their computers with a third-party defrag program rather than the stubborn windows built-in Disk Defragmenter for it always cost very long time to get through the defragment process.

So here, in order to effectively solve the startup problem and speed it up, I recommend you to use Advanced Defrag, which will help your quickly defragment your computer thoroughly, making it not only run faster at startup, but also during the whole process of using the computer. If you want to have a faster computer, go to have a try of this wonderful program.

Defragment computer — Some must–known tips about defragmentation

It is known to all PC users that a simple defragmentation will greatly speed up a computer. But not all know when and how to defragment computer. If you are someone who wants to speed up you computer with simplest method, please do not miss this article.

Defragmentation is a process that rearranges the files on the computer, making them always close together and contiguously locate at the same directory of the hard disk. Hence, it will be much easier to access when necessary, which will reduce the movement of the hard disk and speed up the computer. So it is necessary for us to defragment the computer when in the below cases, in order to make the coming files always coherent and speed up the computer:

1) When installing some new programs or new version of the Windows update on the computer.
2) When storing large amount of files/folders on the computer.
3) When there is only 15% or less than 15% free available hard disk space.

Most of the time, to ensure a thorough and faster defragmentation, it is necessary for us to do some preparation before defragmenting the computer. Below is what recommended so much by others:

1) Run a disk cleanup before the defragmation: go to My Computer -> right click the drive to be cleaned to select Properties -> General -> press Disk Cleanup to begin the process.
2) Run a error- checking to scan and correct some hard disk errors: go to My Computer -> right click the drive to be checked to select Properties -> Tools -> click Error-checking.
3 ) Most of the time, it is recommended that you can first close all other running programs before running the disk defragmentation, especialy remember to close the anti-virus programs the provides a real-time safeguard feature from the right bottom of the desktop.

Above is what you should know when defragmenting the computer. Then you can run the windows built-in defragenter to defragment the computer, speeding it up all the time.

Notes:
1) Please do not defragment a partition which has Ghost system backup files for it will results in errors when doing a system recovery.
2) If you cannot defragment the computer smoothly in normal mode, please first boot the computer into safe mode and the defragment it.
3) It is much better to defragment the computer with a special designed defrag program because of the limitation of the windows built-in defragmenter. And I think Advanced Defrag will be a better one.

Disk defragmentation — Will it speed up the computer?

When searching the internet for solutions to speed up your computer, I believe you will always get advice to run a hard disk defragmentation. But does it really work on speeding up the computer? In this article, you will find something useful.

To answer this question, first it is necessary for us to learn how the fragments occur. Normally, when storing a file on the computer, it will be first saved on the free available space. But when there is impossible for the system to lay another relevant data sequentially and contiguously, it will be scattered into different pieces and then locate incoherently on the hard disk. Here come the file (disk) fragments. When there are fragments on the computer, we are still allowed to access the file when necessary, but most of the time, the fragment will increase the workload of the hard disk head, resulting in the slow input/output of the files and shorten lifespan of the hard disk. If you have searched the internet, you will find some feedbacks saying that a fragmented computer will frequently freeze up or crash. Is that true? Of course, it is, especially when the system is not stable. So it is necessary for us to regularly run a disk defragmentation in order to speed up the computer.

So how to defragment the computer? In Microsoft Windows, it is very easy for us to run a disk defragmentation for we are provided a free built-in defragmenter utility, you can follow the steps below: go to Start -> All Programs -> System Tools -> Accessories -> Disk Defragmenter -> Fragment to manual defrag the computer, speeding up the computer. But to make a smooth and faster disk defragmentation, it is much better that you can run a disk cleanup and error-checking before the defragmentation. If not, defragment in safe mode will do some help in order to faster the defragmentation, but also speed up the computer.

When having problems to defragment my fragmented computer, someone recommended me to use a defrag program named Advanced Defrag. After using it, I find that it is really useful in defragmenting the modern large hard disk and speeding up the computer. If you are interested, you can go to have a free 7-day trial. I believe you will find something really valuable.

Slower computer? Speed it up easily with a disk defragmentation

Have you ever troubled with your slower computer? Are you afraid to run some unknown programs trying to speed it up? If searching the internet for some solutions to solve a slower computer, you will get different advice such as running an anti-virus program or uninstall some unwanted programs. Rarely of them notice that fragments on the computer is another factor for a slower computer and a simple disk defragmentation will help to easily speed it up.

We all know that fragments always come because of the allocation of the files/folders on the computer hard disk. Normally, the file/folder will be saved in the same place and series according to the restored time. But when is not enough free available space for the next file/folder, it will be scattered into pieces and located in several places. When some files/folders are deleted / removed from the computer, there will be some gaps left behind among these files/folders. Therefore, the new content will be added to previous files directly rather than to the end of the hard disk. As days go, there will be lots of such kind of scattered files located on the computer because of normal file action like editing, deleting, updating, downloading and etc, making the computer fragmented day by day.

So in our daily life, in order to enjoy every day with the computer, it is necessary for us to run a disk defragmentation at a regular basic. A defragmentation will rearrange the files on the hard disk, making parts of files/folders always locate at the same place of the computer contiguously and releasing large available space for the next storage action, so as to speed up the computer.

In Microsoft Windows operating system, we are provided a Disk Defragmenter to defragment the computer by going Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools-> Disk Defragmenter. Here, you can select the disk volume that you want to defragment, and then simply click Defragment to begin the defragment process. If you find that it is very slow to defragment computer in this way, you can go to boot the computer into safe mode and have another try. Without the interference of other running programs, it is be much faster.

But if you really unhappy with the lower-efficiency of window’s built-in defragmenter, you can rely on a special designed defrag program. That will not only speed up the defragmentation, but also speed up your computer in a few minutes.
